At Shirland Dental Practice you can expect a warm welcome every time you visit us. As soon as you enter the practice you will be greeted by one of our friendly reception team, who will make you a tea or coffee. Our dentist will then take you through to one of our comfortable treatment rooms and she will introduce you to one of our dental nurses.
For your first appointment we allow a one hour slot. During this time you will be asked to complete a medical history questionnaire, so we have a full understanding of any pre-existing conditions. Dr Hamssa Mansour will then have a discussion with you about your dental history and any concerns you may have.
Once you are happy, she will conduct a full examination of your mouth, gums and teeth. She will also take necessary X-rays. Once the examination is complete she will discuss the results with you and fully explain the x-rays. Everything will be recorded and a treatment plan will be formulated, which she will explain in full, including time-scales and the associated costs. You will have the opportunity to raise any questions or concerns you may have. You can be safe in the knowledge that all our dental work is guaranteed for five years. At the end of the appointment, your next appointment will be set.
During your first appointment, we will also carry out an oral cancer check of your full mouth. If there is anything suspicious, you will be referred to a hospital consultant for further investigation. More than 1,800 people in the UK sadly lose their life to mouth cancer every year so these checks really are vital. Early detection can save lives.
